Gray's is the smallest of the major Scottish art schools, and the only one to require Fine Art students to choose a discipline and stick to it ' from painting, sculpture, printmaking and the more recently added "photographic and electronic media" (PEM). It is one of just two art schools in UK offering a degree in printmaking

Gray's School of Art aims to provide a focal point in the creative culture of Aberdeen and Scotland. Gray's looks to furnish art students with invaluable visual, intellectual, social and communication skills developed in a collaborative and intimate environment, while preparing them for diverse careers

Duncan of Jordanstone and College of Art and Design was established as part of the Dundee Institute of Art and Technology in 1892. It became an autonomous institution in 1975 before merging with the University of Dundee in 1996. It is regarded as one of the leading Colleges of Art and Design in Britain. There are approximately 1000 undergraduate, taught Masters and research postgraduate students. As part of a modern University, students and staff at DJCAD can take advantage of all that a large educational institution has to offer, whilst retaining the special ethos of a Scottish College of Art.
