Art by Fiona NORTH Scottish Art and Artists at Red Rag Gallery Born in England in 1957, Fiona North went on to move to Aberdeen in 1960 and gained a HNC in Fine Art followed by studies at Gray's School of Art where she gained a BA Hons in Fine Art, and she has lived and worked in Aberdeen ever since. Fiona has always had a keen interest in painting old architecture, interiors and figure drawing. On her work, Fiona North has revealed that she attempts to capture the varying atmospheres we as an audience experience in different locations. Much of her subject matter is abandoned, empty buildings, void of human interaction. However the painter does also complete figurative work, and her distinctive style is emphasized through her use of oil on paper on board. Fiona North's preferred medium is oil, and depending on what she is painting she can go from smooth lines and shadows to a looser style of working. Fiona North has also said that, "Light perspective and mood are an important factor in my work which I try to convey by using a subtle colour palette." Fiona has had continued success since graduating and has exhibited at the RSA and shows her work with Red Rag Gallery in Bath as well as other leading galleries.
