Scottish art, artist and paintings">Glasgow School of Art graduating with a BA in Fine Art. Following that Ronnie spent several years teaching art at Scottish schools and then taught in Germany and Hong Kong.
Ronnie Ford returned to his Scottish roots in 2003. Since then he has become established as a highly successful contemporary artist both in British Art Galleries and further a field in Europe and Asia.
Art collectors know Ronnie Ford for his romantic visions of the French and Scottish Landscapes which explore texture and perspective in a highly original contemporary style. His paintings capture the spirit of the landscape but the landscape is not treated as an object in itself. Ford creates a dream-like itinerary for an excursion through the scenery of the mind.
Ronnie Ford has been much influenced by Oriental culture. He believes in the old Chinese dictum that every painting should lead the viewer on a journey. And the painting should be done in the most understated of ways. Ford compares it, as do the Chinese philosophers, to the string which attaches a kite with the hand of the manipulator. The artist controls the rhythmic curves and swerves, and in this way using various subtle visual encounters, the painting guides the art observer on a delightful flight of fancy.
Ford's highly textural canvases are instantly recognisable. They developed as a result of Ronnie's art studies involving both sculpture and optical art. More recently Ronnie Ford has developed his unique Timescapes which encapsulate a journey through a landscape in three dimensions.
Ronnie Ford has been commissioned by private and corporate art client's world wide. He has also featured in numerous Scottish and International publications.
