09 July 2010 - Scottish Art Exhibition

PRESS RELEASE

David Smith

'Scottish Art Exhibition'

Award-winning Scottish artists will be spending some leisure time in the Cotswolds this summer - in the form of Red Rag's annual Summer Exhibition of Scottish Art at the Red Rag Gallery in Stow on the Wold, which runs from 18 July 2010.

This major exhibition will feature current work by a distinguished array of talented living artists in a variety of media and styles. The show will give an up to date insight into contemporary Scottish art; and will include still life (Frank Colcough, Emma Davis, Liz Knox), figure painting (Damian Callan, Denise Findlay, Sophie McKay-Knight and Ian McWhinnie) and a variety of interpretations of landscapes, townscapes and seascapes, both of Scotland and elsewhere (including paintings by Mary Batchelor, George Birrell, Marion Thomson and Tom Watt).

Red Rag Gallery Manager, Carole Teagle, says, "We are always proud to present the annual Scottish Exhibition at Stow, which runs for several weeks over the summer period. Scottish artists, particularly in landscape, coastal and marine scenes, express their love of country so evocatively and colourfully; and, whatever the style or subject - be it a still life or a landscape - always surprise and delight. We are pleased to be presenting so many well known and highly regarded Scottish artists in this show."

Other artists represented in the Scottish Art Exhibition are: - Pam Carter, Mike Healey, Alan King, Jock MacInnes, Louis McNally, David Smith and James Watt.

The artists represented have all exhibited widely and their work is held in public and private collections in the UK and elsewhere.

01 April 2010 - Cities around the World

PRESS RELEASE

Scottish artist: Stephanie Dees

Art Exhibition: Cities around the World

The splendour, personality and romance of cities is the exciting subject of the forthcoming spring exhibition at the Red Rag Gallery in Stow on the Wold, Gloucestershire from 25 April until 9 May 2010.

Cities reflects the variety and vibrancy of different cultures and the art exhibition, 'Cities around the World', includes the paintings of several contemporary British artists for whom the city fascinates and stimulates. The art exhibition offers distinctive and diverse interpretations of the atmosphere and life of some of Europe's major cities - including London, Paris, Florence, Rome and Venice. The everyday rhythms, energy, colour and movement of city life are explored in a variety of media against a backdrop of lively buildings and urban scenes in all the seasonal variation of atmosphere and light.

Cities will present British art work ranging in style from the playful to the impressionistic and atmospheric - spirited scenes by Janet Ledger (whose paintings are part of the Tate Gallery Permanent Collection), Susan Brown, David Farren and Michael Ewart complement the thoughtful images of Stephanie Dees and the evocative impressions of Stephen Brown and Past President of the RBA, Romeo di Girolamo. All contributors to 'Cities around the World' have exhibited widely in the UK and their art work is held in collections in the UK, Europe and the US.

Notes for Editors: Red Rag Gallery specialise in original paintings, sculptures and limited edition prints from leading British and Irish contemporary artists. The gallery has over 250 works of art on display at any one time. It is based in the historic town of Stow on the Wold. Opening hours are: 10 am to 5 Monday to Saturday. 11 am to 4 Sunday
