Both paintings on the wall are Joe''s own work based on a visit to Venice. The Central image is St Mark’s Cathedral in St Mark’s Square. The other painting above the fireplace is the Doge’s palace. The Sniffy paintings are often a play on contrasting traditional art against a modern construct. Sniffy lies on a mat as a commentator performance artist. The plinth on his tummy is topped by Joe''s cat Pablo Picatso, as cats do when they see a convenient space to sit on that you are working with. Basically, all is tongue in cheek. The plinths and other places hold some of Sniffy’s necessities, wine glasses and fruit all extremely healthy as you know! The plinths, fruit, wine, cat and Sniffy become a whole contemporary artwork.
