''Still Life With Artist''s Brushes'' is a warm and carefree painting from Jock MacInnes. Pink sea melts into pink sky and contrasts with a strong red foreground. The painting has a quietness and simplicity, which is enhanced by MacInnes style and technique.

Although Jock MacInnes paintings are influenced by the Scottish Colourist artists, he describes himself as a ''Modernist'' at heart. And so he draws upon inspiration from English artists such as Nicholson, Scott and Wallis together with European artists Matisse, Braque and Morandi.
