Scottish Contemporary Artist: Louis McNally Painting: Harbour Scene, Stornaway ''Harbour Scene, Stornaway'' shows a small Scottish fishing village on what is probably Sunday, the day of rest. All the fishing boats are moored and everything at ground level appears still and quiet. The movement and light and shade come from Louis McNally''s depiction of the sky. A tall church spire draws our gaze upwards to the turmoil of clouds above, casting their shadows down on the multi-coloured houses and fishing boats. As in many Louis McNally paintings, the artist captures the wild openness of the Scottish sky, as much a part of the landscape as the town itself. We are reminded that the fishermen depend entirely on the weather. The buildings in the small fishing town are rendered in a crisp, graphic style using strong colours and clearly defined boundaries. This style seems to add to the sense of other-worldly stillness in the town. In addition to Red Rag Scottish Art Gallery Louis McNally has exhibited at other leading Scottish Art Galleries. Each painting at Red Rag is sourced from the Louis McNally artist studio and like all Red Rag Scottish art and Contemporary art it can be shipped worldwide. This Louis McNally painting is sold.
