As an Edinburgh based artist, Linda is consistently inspired by the terrain and views around her. In addition to her Scottish surroundings, trips to France influence her compositions and can be observed within her scenes.
Linda uses texture and colour to enhance the already dramatic landscapes depicted in her oil paintings. Her playful use of colour off sets the often severe lighting and weather conditions captured in her work. Linda constantly revisits her sites of inspiration at varying times of the day and throughout the seasons, allowing her to intuitively interpret and paint with a 360° understanding of the place. Working with such consideration and connection to her scenes, Linda is able to freely layer paint using a variety of tools; generating intrigue around scale and depth, culminating in an end piece with both speculative abstraction and realism. Her love for each of the locations she paints is apparent through her deliberate and evocative strokes.
